ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Funded by: Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation Limited, National Mission on Food Processing
Status: Completed (2012-15)
Villages in the vicinity of Surguja districts lack proper storage and processing facility for the agricultural produce which results in a huge amount of wastage of produce. To address this issue, the SAK foundation undertook the training of farmers in Food Processing using existing resources. In every project phase, the organization held 6 weeks long Entrepreneurship Development Program at Ambikapur and Korea District of Chhattisgarh.

The projects emphasized value addition through the processing of food, which usually was wasted after surplus. The tribal women who were the main beneficiary of the project were trained in the processing of grams and other agricultural products and also preserving of grains, vegetables etc. The participants of the program were also trained on value addition by making products like pickles, spices, cakes, etc. The program envisioned to train the women to use food processing as a medium to become entrepreneurs and earn livelihoods.
